The story behind every silhouette

What started as a mama’s desire to hold onto fleeting moments became a studio trusted by thousands of families to capture the profiles they never want to forget.

“The details of our lives, are in the moments that tend to form our simplest of days.”

Meet the founder

Built by a mother who understood that details matter.

What began at the kitchen table became a nationwide studio.

It started in 2010, the way most beautiful things do — quietly, imperfectly, and with a lot of love. I was a mama surrounded by babies growing faster than I could keep up with, and I desperately wanted a way to freeze those little profiles in time. Not with another phone photo, but with something tangible. Something I could frame, hold, and pass down.

Utilizing my background in the graphic arts, I started dabbling with vector illustrations. I had alway appreciated and respected the old artistry of victorian silhouette work, and decided to try and honor that with my own very detailed illustration drawing style. I first created the silhouettes of my rainbow baby Hanalei.  Then for friends. Then for their friends. And somewhere along the way, Dapper & Darling became something much bigger than our kitchen table — it became a studio trusted by over eight thousand families across the country to capture the profiles of the people they love most.

Every silhouette that leaves our studio still carries the same intention it did on day one: to freeze a fleeting moment so you can treasure it forever.

What We Believe

The principles behind every piece

Heart Over Speed

We don't rush. Every silhouette is individually refined because the tiny details — that curl, that chin, that impossible little nose — are what make it yours.

Heirloom Quality

Solid gold. Archival paper. Materials that don't fade, peel, or wear away — because a keepsake should outlast a trend.

Real People, Real Care

With other moms handling your order every steps of the way, your order is reviewed personally by someone who genuinely cares about getting it right.

The Craft

How a photograph becomes a silhouette

Every Dapper & Darling silhouette begins with a single photograph and is transformed — by hand — into a portrait that captures the essence of your loved one. No AI generation. No automated tracing. Just an artist’s eye and the patience to get every curve right.

Here’s exactly what happens after you submit your photo.

Our Goldsmith

Hand-engraved in Greece by a master artisan

Every Dapper & Darling charm is engraved by a single goldsmith working from a small studio in Greece — using techniques passed down through generations. This isn’t factory production. It’s one artisan, one piece at a time, engraving your child’s profile into solid gold or sterling silver with the precision and care that only comes from decades of experience.

We searched for years to find the right partner — someone who shared our belief that jewelry should be made to last lifetimes, not seasons. When we found our goldsmith, we knew immediately. The quality of the engraving, the weight of the metal, the way each charm catches the light — it’s the kind of craftsmanship you can feel the moment you hold it.

The People

The team behind your keepsake

Small with purpose.Six women. Thousands of silhouettes. Every one handled with care.
